Bruno Lino is managing partner at Valutia, a venture capital firm backing Brazilian founders who build with global ambition from day one. He got to investing after 17 years building companies from the inside.
He trained as a lawyer, joined ALL as a trainee in 2002 and worked across every business unit in the company. In 2010 he helped create Brado Logística, a spin off of the container division, where he built the commercial side from scratch to around R$100 million in revenue.
In 2012 he moved to Madrid to bring the 3G culture to Burger King in Europe. He took over the UK in 2014, with sales down for three straight years, and turned it around in his first year. In 2015 he became president of EMEA: 54 countries and 3,000 restaurants. Over five years the region doubled, from 3 to 6 billion dollars in sales. He then ran Oceania, Japan and South Korea at Kraft Heinz.
He left at the end of 2018. Seventeen years, twelve moves and five countries later, he decided to stop. He went back to Salvador with his family and took a sabbatical with no set plan, to see where his curiosity would lead.
It led to founders. He started talking to people who were building, opened his calendar to any founder who reached out, and that turned into his first angel checks: Mottu, Nuvini, Dexa, Company Hero. He became an advisor at Allievo Capital and kept building a portfolio. In 2022 he was invited to come on as a partner and start Valutia.
Today, at Valutia, he works from the other side of the table, with founders at the start of what he has already built from the inside.
